To keep your card printer in peak condition with every change of FOIL or Printer RIBBON you should at least clean the printer rollers and run a cleaning card through the card feed and printing sections of the printer.

A more detailed cleaning would include the use of a specialised felt pen to wipe down the printer head and Isopropyl Alcohol wipes to help thoroughly clean the rollers and carriage way of your printer. Some printers now have cleaning tapes and ribbons but these also need to be replaced when dirty.

If you are using a magnetic stripe encoder you will also need to regularly clean it. We have specially made HEAD CLEANING CARDS available that help remove dirt, magnetic oxides and other contaminants from most concealed magnetic heads.
